Awesome Vanity

It's been quite a while since I have updated. Life has kept me busy but, with the spring comes the itch to decorate, antique hunt and blog. It's always fun to share ideas and I LOVE getting ideas from all of you. Just because I haven't posted, doesn't mean I haven't visited many blogs during my absence.
Anyway.... I have been busy painting some VERY long overdue pieces of furniture for my sun room. I will post those in a blog shortly (at least that's the plan). I will need to add some new pictures of the sun room as I have nearly come to the point of completion in that room.
Through the wonders of Craiglsist I have found the most amazing store and Liz, the accommodating, kind and talented shop owner. If you have never been to her website and blog, please check it out. Even better, if you live close by, stop in, I promise you will be delighted.

Green Vanity

So... on a recent trip to New Jersey, I went to Liz' store and found this gorgeous vanity for my sun room. I will be using it as a desk with my laptop. Don't you just love it? I do! :-) Unfortunately, I wasn't able to take it home just yet as I need a truck to get it home. Once I put it in its place I will take some photos and share. Finally, I can put up all the art that I have been collecting for that space as I know what furniture items to work around. I hope you like it as much as I do.

I love your blogg - especially all those wonderful historic houses ! I am a Town Planner by qualification here in Australia with a tremendous interest in historic architecture, and your glorious photographs really tickled my fancy...I wonder what it would cost to build something like that here in Australia? - scarey thought !

wow I posted a giant comment but i guess it got lost. I love your vanity I love the color. I had a vanity in the same color but metal it had palm leaves i bought it at dillers in las vegas. It was the last one out of production so i had to order the bench from chicago. Here is my sad story. im from long island in my early 30's i moved to vegas for 13 yrs never liked it to much I was a labor and delivery nurse made good money got promoted bought a house i got stuck there. well about 3.5 yrs ago my life fell apart I lost my job, house, fiance, health, mind no that was always gone lol. most of my family is in ny so i came back for three month to work my neighbor was watching my house and had the keys. When i finally went back to clear out My vanity was gone and my tiffany blue and purple dragonfly lamp. Prior to that someone had stolen my 12 22k gold bracelets and earings part of my wedding set. I'm divorced but still am friendly with my ex and had that jewlery for 22 yrs. I cant find my vanity anywhere its not made anymore and for a lamp that even come close to mine is around 900 dollars. I love your site Im living with my mom back on long island and after 2.5 yrs im starting to feel better (some more bad things happened to me I'm going to exclude) I love your site I love long island history I know all the sites your talking about I havent left my house much over the last yr I have a degree in fine arts/art ed in addition to the nursing degree I dont have much money so i love your thrift store finds. Ive been to the selden one I think i like the brentwood one too and antiques at the yankee place in huntington. I hope as i come out of this blackness i can find a vanity i love again. BTW im am kind of an expert on evelyn nesbitt and olive thomas I have a large collection . The biggest anywhere in the us i believe of olvie i know quite a few of her decendents. I had to sell my copy of evelyns book I got 480.00 for it so that was good I have signed pics newspaper a vanity fold out mirror with evelyn on it .I have been acknowledged on books olive I'd love to talk about all I know some day thanks for your site again it really cheered me up suzy

I'm sorry for being MIA! Life has a way of interfering with creative endeavors at times. Apologies!

Suzy, thank you very much for sharing your story with me. It seems you have been through some rocky times. I certainly wish you all the best going forward.
I am not familiar with Olive Thomas so I will have to Google her as soon as I'm done leaving my comment here.
I haven't had much of a chance to get out thrifting lately. I have won a few new items at my local auction house that I want to update the site with. I hope to do that soon! I'm itching to get back involved with blogging again. I do miss it!
Keep in touch! You can email me at Prettylildoodad@aol.com if you would like to discuss Olive,Evelyn,thrifting/etc.
Thanks to all who posted! Annie
